Drug Rehab For Cheese Heroin Could Prevent Escalation To Higher Grade Heroin
Cheese is the street name given to a new kind of heroin. And it s hitting the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas streets with a vengeance. Although controls have been implemented, dealers are still being arrested in 2008. Cheese is a mixture of black tar heroin and crushed Tylenol PM Tablets. By crushing the tablets and mixing it into the heroin, users are able to snort the drug rather than inject it. If a person using cheese heroin is gotten into drug rehab early enough, you may be able to prevent escalation to more potent heroin that could end up with long-term heroin addiction, or worse.
Cheese is the new breed of low-dose heroin selling for about 2 bucks a hit and its low cost is increasing its popularity. Kids are starting off small, experimenting with this cheap and relatively low dose heroin being sold on the street. But as with all opiate drugs, the next high is never as good as the last - as the body develops a tolerance the user must increase the amount to get the same high. To do that, they move up to a purer grade of heroin, ultimately shifting away from snorting and turning to injection.
Is it just a new marketing program by the drug dealers designed to lure in individuals
The truth , may be to get them hooked and move them onto a higher grade and more expensive product. It may give the illusion of being safer since it has over-the-counter medication in it, but at its base is heroin and heroin is one of the most addictive drugs available with almost one in four becoming addicted after the first use.
Today, Texas is dealing with a growing number of heroin snorting addicts checking into Texas drug rehab centers, and the average age of those checking in has been steadily dropping.
In 1995 only 4% of heroin users entering treatment did so for snorting heroin, with the average age being 32. By contrast, the number is now 20% with the average age dropping to 27. You have to get an awful lot of 14, 15 and 16 year olds checking into drug rehab for the numbers to drop like that. One Dallas drug rehab center has also begun admitting more 11, 12, and 13-year-olds.
Drug dealers, and even unsuspecting kids who don t understand how dangerous drugs really are, will invite your kids to take drugs
Don t think that s not going to happen - it will. There are so many kids taking drugs in schools these days that it s impossible to escape.
It s imperative that we talk to our children about the dangers inherent in drug use. You have to educate yourself on it, and educate your children thoroughly. They need to really understand the ins and outs - not just be told not to take them, or that they re dangerous - but exactly how they work, what they do, and the consequences.
If you or a loved one has gotten caught up in cheese heroin or any other drug, contact a drug rehab program counselor who can help you find a drug rehab in Texas that s right for your situation.
